Many people do not give much thought to the central heating system. People expect it to work when they need it and for it to continue pumping out a continous supply of hot water. Boiler malfunctions can be expensive to repair and inconveniencing to your home operations especially when it happens during cold winter months. Lack of hot water of heat
Comes about when there are a broken airlocks and diaphragms, thermostat problems, low water levels or failure of motorized valves. It is the best starting point when there is boiler pressure on the thermostat. Contact your heating engineer immediately.
Dripping and leaking boilers
There are many causes to leaking boilers depending on where that water is coming from. Never try to fix the leak alone but call a reputable professional because of safety reasons. The leaks can be because of broken internal component like a pressure valve or pump seal. If it is coming from the boiler pressure valve, then it means the boiler pressure is very high. Consequently, if it comes from the pump seal, then it means the pump seal is worn out, and you need a replacement.
You can also find that the leak is coming from around the tank or pipes. This indicates there is corrosion maybe because the system fitting was improper. Call a heating engineer to diagnose and fix the problem.
Strange gurgling, whistling or banging noise
The problem arises because of problems with air in the boiler. Besides, it can be due to low water pressure or kettling. In older boilers, the problem arises due to imminent pump failure resulting in strange banging noises. The type of noise the boiler gives determines the kinds of problem that exists.
Losing pressure
The boiler pressure drops too low affecting the functioning of the central heating system. Check your boiler pressure level and examine the built-in pressure gauge. If the pressure is below 1, then there is a malfunction. Possible causes include water leak, bleeding radiators. You may need to replace the pressure relief valve.
Check for a visible leak in the boiler, when you find it, call a heating engineer or professional who will repressurize the system.
Thermostat problems
The thermostat turns the heating off and on or losing accuracy when it should not be doing that. You need to buy a new thermostat. The thermostat can do that if the home is warmer and the thermostat is trying to stop the boiler from raising the temperature higher. The other possibility is that the thermostat is malfunctioning and need a replacement.
